We are looking for nurses who work with breastfeeding families in the hospital to join our team of volunteers.
Your clinical experience as a nurse can provide value to the families who seek help from Baby Cafe and expand our capacity to help them!
We are currently accepting applications for our first cohort of 2026 nurse volunteers.
Volunteers will be required to attend 10 hours of orientation via Zoom and to attend one in-person Baby Cafe session and one of our virtual support sessions on Zoom.
The orientation is not a training on how to provide lactation education or counseling. It is intended to orient the registered nurse with breastfeeding support experience to the Baby Cafe Bakersfield philosophy of care and strategy for supporting families.
We are currently seeking only those registered nurses who are working in the postpartum, labor & delivery, or NICU departments of our local hospitals.

Our philosophy is to support families to simplify and optimize their breastfeeding routines so that both mother and baby can thrive. We work together as a team of lactation care providers to ensure that each family receives a well-rounded and thoughtful menu of possibilities to meet their own infant feeding goals.
